Highlights include:\n* “Storms uncover massive beach plastic pollution” (read here)\n* Colleen  Hughson and Gary Ryan on **Triple R Radio Marinara** discussing solutions for fishing debris.\n* **Massive 738kg of rubbish collected in bay clean-up **featured on **Eco Voice. **Read here.\n\n**Grants and Growth**\n\nThanks to a **Warrnambool City Council community grant**, we purchased a mobile defibrillator, volunteer t-shirts, and other safety gear. These investments ensure our group can continue thriving. We also received a generous donation from Rotary Club Warrnambool East which has assisted us with keeping our Bottle Overboard data entry up-to-date. \n\n**Bottles Overboard**\n\nThis year we’ve collected over **1,000 foreign-origin bottles** not sold in Australia, and Colleen submitted a **Bottles Overboard Data Report** to the **IMO**. This report was co-sponsored by Clean Arctic Alliance, Friends of the Earth International and the Clean Shipping Coalition. This effort highlights the issue of illegal marine plastic discharge and pushes for global action.\n\n**Looking Ahead to 2025**\n\nWhile we celebrate the progress made, we remain committed to tackling the ongoing challenges our oceans face. We trekked out to Second Bay, past the wetlands, over sand dunes—felt like a real hunting expedition! 🎯 Armed with glass jars, bags, and sieves, 30 of us hunted for two hours and snatched up a whopping **3,000 sneaky Nurdles** (those pesky pre-production plastic pellets). 👀\n\nFor some, it was their first hunt, and those Nurdles were tough to spot in the seaweed and pumice. But once we got our eyes in, they were *everywhere*! 😲 We made it back to the cars just in time to dodge a downpour.\n\nWhile counting up our Nurdle haul, we also found **over 4,000** other small hard microplastic fragments—nasty bycatch of our polluted shores. 🥲 It’s a bittersweet victory, but we're determined to keep fighting this plastic plague! 💪 #NurdleHunt #PlasticPollution #BeachCleanUp"
